Building local capacity and sustainability
If all deafblind people are to have the support they need over the long term, deafblind services must be rooted in local health care provision and supported by government.
To achieve this, Sense International establishes offices staffed by local professionals, who work closely with government and health care providers to help them understand the issues facing deafblind people and develop appropriate, high-quality services.
We provide each of our partners the expertise they need to deliver and maintain these services, with training in areas such as management, fundraising and finance. All our partnerships are time-limited so that we can expand our reach to new partners and geographical regions.
Working through local partners and using the local infrastructure keeps costs low and means we can spend as much as possible on services.
