Ride Romania

Ten riders took part on our Ride Romania Challenge from 11-15 June this year to experience the best that riding in Romania has to offer.

Staying in a small village outside of Brasov, they took to the hills each day to discover the surrounding flower filled meadows, forests and villages. They were accompanied by their mare's foals which many of the riders said was a magical experience. Others raved about how free it felt to be able to ride without the restriction of fences all around them. Nights were spent enjoying good home cooked food and talking to their hosts to get a greater understanding of Romanian culture. On their final night they were joined by children from one of the nearby villages who joined them for what turned into a late night impromptu party.

Visiting a Sense International kindergarten during the trip was a highlight for many as they got to meet some of the deafblind children and witness first hand what an impact support and education is having on their lives.

Emma Wheeler, who took part in the trip with several of her colleagues from the law firm Wilsons, said “It was a significant challenge for the team and a rare experience. We may not have seen any vampires in Transylvania but did come across a large brown bear, which are native to the region. We are all keen to be involved in another Sense International challenge next year, which involves swimming. Not for the faint-hearted!”
