Campaigning

Advocacy is one of the main activities of Sense International (Romania). Increasing awareness of the specific problems encountered by deafblind people is a priority for our work.

As a result of our campaigning, the Government of Romania has recognised deafblindness as a distinct disability in policy-making, which sets the stage for accessing government funding to make services more readily available to deafblind people and organisations that support them.

Sense International (Romania) undertook a research project covering deafblindness and has recently produced the first ever Social Exclusion Report.  This will be a powerful tool for promoting the rights of deafblind people, with the ultimate aim to improve the quality of their lives.
