Where your money goes
The money you raise helps Sense International to continue transforming the lives of deafblind people — from lives of isolation and neglect to those filled with communication, interaction and self-esteem.
It is estimated that four out of five children who are both deaf and blind in developing countries die before their fifth birthday.
With your support, Sense International can continue to save lives and build hope. We will do it through our:
- education programmes for deafblind children
- support for parents
- vocational training for adults
- teacher and professional training
- and campaigning for the rights of deafblind people.
We will make the most of every pound you raise; we keep our costs as low as possible by investing in local staff in the countries where we work (we only have ten full-time staff based in the UK). This enables us to devote a large portion of our resources to local services where they are needed most. Our approach is to identify local partners already providing services to people with disabilities and helping them to expand their services to include deafblind people. In this way, we ensure that our programmes are sustainable by maximising existing infrastructure not creating parallel systems.
