Next week I will be travelling to Boston to act as an advisor for the Disability Rights Fund, and am looking forward to drawing on my experiences working for Sense International in Kenya.
The Disability Rights Fund supports Disabled Persons Organisations in developing countries and provides grants to enable them take the lead in advocating for the human rights of people with disabilities. This includes work at a local and national level.
The fund was started as a result of work in the lead up to the drafting of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and has been instrumental in implementing and upholding the convention.
Whilst in Boston I will be discussing the funds strategy and how it can continue to support the one billion disabled people in the world. I am honoured to have been asked to be part of the discussions and will share my experiences when I return.
