As if being born with multiple disabilities wasn’t hard enough, Farid and his family have also faced discrimination and ostracism in their home country, Peru.
Farid’s parents noticed that he wasn’t growing normally and that he couldn’t sit or support his own head – but they were very reluctant to accept what was happening, so ignored the symptoms for a long time.
Then when Farid was six, he was assessed by the physiotherapy service at Nuestra Senora del Carmen School that is supported by Sense International. Since then, Farid has made substantial progress.
He is no longer in as much pain, has learnt how to crawl, sit up properly and support his head. And in July 2012 he started to learn how to walk and improved his balance.
All these achievements have brought great joy to his family.
