An appeal by renowned stage actor Simon Russell Beale on behalf of Sense International went out on BBC Radio 4 on 27 October 2013.

We're delighted that it has so far raised £11,000 for us.

You can listen to it on BBC iPlayer. You can also read a transcript of the broadcast (3KB, plain text).

The broadcast highlighted the work of Sense International and in particular how we supported a deafblind child in Uganda in developing her communication skills.

"We are extremely grateful to Simon for taking the time to record this appeal for Sense International. The appeal will raise both funds and awareness for our work with deafblind children and adults across the seven countries in which we work."
James Thornberry, Director of Sense International

Simon, who has been described by The Independent as the "greatest stage actor of his generation," has been a regular at the National Theatre for almost two decades and spent the summer starring in Harold Pinter's play The Hothouse at the Trafalgar Studios in London.
