Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities
22 December 2017
Sense International India celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December) with its local partners through a variety of events throughout the country, facilitating the participation of persons with deafblindness.
Some highlights include awareness raising rallies in Maharashtra, a sports competition in Jharkhand, an exhibition on teacher training materials in Andhra Pradesh, participation in an arts competition in Assam, and an award ceremony in Karnataka commemorating best practices in caring and supporting persons with deafblindness.
In Ahmedabad, Sense International India partnered with Ahmedabad One Mall to hold a signature campaign to #LeaveNoOneBehind. With a life size ‘snakes and ladders’ board game, children learned about deafblindness and how they could raise awareness among their friends. Through sensory stimulation games adults also gained an understanding of how people with deafblindness experience their world.
