3 November 2015
Sense International Peru has been recognised at an event organised by Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, the regional government of Lima Province, to celebrate National Day of People with Disabilities, an annual event held in Peru on the 16 October.
The event was held to recognise institutions and individuals working to improve living conditions and contribute to the social inclusion of people with disabilities.
Dr. Jose Galvez, Director of Health of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima presented the Director of Sense International Peru, Dr. Ricardo Zevallos with a plaque and certificate in recognition of the work done on behalf of the inclusion of people with deafblindness.
Dr. Zevallos was responsible for the words of gratitude to the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima on behalf of the recognised organisations.
During his speech he noted that "the challenges that people with disabilities face must be made co-responsible for State agencies and Civil Society.
"In this line, it is critical to have strategic alliances to facilitate the premise of 'acting to include' where civil society continued with its interventions and social innovations together with a responsible State who should to provide facilities and support necessary to build a more justice society with solidarity and opportunity for everyone."
