Collaborate for inclusion – Our call to action

Sense International works to ensure every person with deafblindness has the right to live, learn and thrive in an inclusive society, creating opportunity and fighting for better access alongside our partners.
When we work together, what might once have seemed impossible can become possible.
We’re calling on others to join that effort and work together with us to help create a world where everyone can participate – read our call to action below.
Being included is a human right. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, every person with a disability has the right to equal access and opportunity. Too often, this right is disregarded.
Our world is full of barriers for people with deafblindness and other complex needs to participate. In an increasingly digital world, one of the greatest barriers people face is a lack of accessible technology. When the whole world is reached through your mobile phone – connecting with friends, reading the news, learning new skills – a lack of digital inclusion can be truly devastating, leaving people with access needs such as those with deafblindness disconnected, and distancing them from future possibilities. When accessibility is ignored, small barriers can become insurmountable, and people are left out of life.
In 2025 Sense International launched the Global Deafblindness Resource Hub to help break down those barriers and empower people with deafblindness to connect with the world around them. The Hub acts as a central point to access resources relevant to people with deafblindness and their families and carers. The information available spans a huge range of topics, from guidance on accessing right to vocational training such as chicken rearing, creating a truly inclusive space. Resources are currently spread across seven different languages, but the Hub aims to ultimately reach beyond borders and provide accessible and essential information to everyone who needs it.
We believe the Global Deafblindness Resource Hub represents a key moment in digital provision for people with deafblindness, putting accessibility and inclusion at the forefront. But moments like this can only happen with collaboration and commitment. For real change to happen, we need leaders and experts across industries to partner with us in our mission. It is essential to commit to building inclusion into every product and opportunity, to prioritise accessibility at the creation and planning stages, and to listen to and share the views of people with disabilities to build a stronger and better world. For this, we are calling on our partners to support our push for inclusion with these actions:
Support Sense International’s Global Deafblindness Resource Hub – share the Hub, help us to bring access to these resources to more communities by supporting our work, and collaborate with us to create even more accessible resources – helping us to build a digital space that is inclusive and accessible for all.
Prioritise inclusion and accessibility in your own organisation – listen to the experience and expertise of people with disabilities and build accessibility to your projects and workplaces from the very beginning, ensuring everyone is valued
Demand a world that is inclusive for everyone – question how the world around you excludes and work together to change it. Call on leaders to prioritise disability inclusion and accessibility in line with Sustainable Development Goals and commit to creating a world which is truly inclusive
The path to inclusion is paved by people coming together and collaborating to build a society that meets everyone’s needs. We urge you to get involved, to come with us and build to create a better future for people with deafblindness. In the words of Helen Keller: Alone, we can do so little. Together, we can do so much.
